In my first post on this topic, I gave you my first three tips to prevent Holiday Weight Gain. Click here to see Tips 1, 2, and 3.
Cathy’s Holiday Tips 4,5, 6 and 7:
4. Be Good and Hungry before you eat. If you are going to a party, plan to be hungry ahead. You don’t want to eat extra calories packed on top of a previously eaten meal. When you are good and hungry, it is much easier to sense when you are full. You will eat less.
5. Eat your favorite foods while sitting down! Grab a plate, serve yourself small portions of the most appealing options, sit down and enjoy! Plan on one plateful so do not go back for seconds and do NOT stand at a table of food mindlessly stuffing your face.
6. Remember that Self-Control Feels Good! When you control the amount of food you are eating rather than stuffing yourself, you will feel better after – both emotionally and physically. Remind yourself that you want to be proud of yourself at the end and you want to feel good.
7. Pray, Pray and Pray! Ask God to help you. I read this verse this morning and love it! James 1:5-8 The Message, “If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves.” Stand firm as you ask the Lord for help in your eating this Holiday Season!
