In my 30-year battle with compulsive eating, I was so exhausted with dealing with the negative fruit of the struggle, including guilt, self-hatred and fat on my body. And clothes that never fit! I read in scripture that Jesus came to bring me abundant life (John 10:10), but my life felt FAR from abundant.

The Search for an Answer
My life became about finding a solution to all this angst. And the answer always involved the next diet. I am not sure why dieting is presented as the solution, but I approached each next diet as the one which would solve my problems. Little did I know, back in those years, that dieting would actually increase and exaggerate the problem. If only someone had shared with me the negative fruits of dieting, I could have saved myself years and years of emotional pain.
